PC Medic’s Startup Items tool lets you review which programs automatically load when your computer starts up. These products are the ones that always “pop-up” after your computer turns on (like Instant Messengers, Antivirus Software, etc). By disabling unwanted Startup Items, you can free up system memory and help increase performance.
Using the Startup Items Tool
Please by careful using the Startup Item tool. Some Startup Items are required and used by Windows. We recommend only disabling Startup Items you are familiar with and no longer want to use.
To disable a Startup Item, select the item from the list and click “Disable.” When you next restart your system, this item will not automatically open.
To enable a Startup Item, select a disabled item from the list and click “Enable.” When you next restart your system, this item will not automatically open.
To delete a Startup Items, select a item from the list and click “Delete.” Note: A deleted item cannot be restored, so use caution when deleting.
I try to disable an item but it keeps coming back…
If you try to disable or delete a Startup Item but it keeps coming back, it means that another program is checking to see if the Startup Item is there and adding it back every time it can’t find it. You may want to use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panels to try to remove this parent program if you don’t want the particular software.
